The Apollo 13 Trailer is based on the true story of the unfortunate 13th Apollo mission bound for the moon. Astronauts Jim Lovell, Haise and Jack Swigert were scheduled to fly Apollo 14, but were moved up to 13 (as seen on the Apollo 13 movie trailer). It's 1970, and America has already achieved their lunar landing goal, so there's little interest in this "routine" flight (in the Apollo 13 Trailer)&until that is, things go very wrong, and projection of a secure return fade. Stranded 205,000 miles from Earth in a crippled spacecraft, the astronauts in the Apollo 13 movie trailer fight a desperate battle to survive. Meanwhile, at Mission Control, astronaut Ken Mattingly, flight director Gene Kranz and a heroic ground crew battle against the odds to bring the astronauts home as shown in the Apollo 13 movie trailer. As an Apollo 13 Trailer, the film was nominated for nine academy awards including best picture and is now available on a two-disc anniversary edition DVD.
